We head to the Archaeological Park of Dion, (ticket entrance 10,00 €) the third most important city of the Macedonian Kingdom. Nestled at the foothills of Mount Olympus, Dion was the sacred center where the Macedonian kings celebrated their military victories with grand festivals, athletic games, and sacrifices to Zeus. As we walk among ancient sanctuaries, Roman baths, theatres, and the lush natural wetlands, our licensed tourist guide will bring to life the world of Philip II and Alexander the Great during a pleasant two-hour English-language tour.
Next, we visit the Olympus National Park Information Center, (free entrance) where a 30-minute presentation introduces the unique biodiversity, geology, and cultural significance of Greece’s most legendary mountain... a landscape where myth and nature intertwine.
Around 13:00, we arrive in the charming town of Litochoro, the traditional gateway to Mount Olympus. Built amphitheatrically between mountain and sea, Litochoro blends stone-built houses, narrow alleys, and a vibrant local culture. We will visit the Maritime Museum, (ticket entrance 2,00€; cash ONLY) which highlights the region’s long seafaring tradition through rare artifacts, ship models, and stories of local captains who sailed across the Mediterranean Sea.
Afterwards, guests will enjoy free time for optional lunch, strolling, and exploring the picturesque streets of Litochoro before returning.
